Fantastický doplněk InkCase Plus udělá s chytrého mobilu hotového šetřílka, který spotřebuje méně energie a tím pádem na jedno nabití vydrží mnohem déle a jako bonus nabídne i další užitečné vlastnosti.

Jedná se o aktivní obal, do kterého je vložen samostatný E-Ink displej s vlastní řídící jednotkou. Ten je k Androidu připojen pomocí Bluetooth. Výsledkem je výrazné prodloužení výdrže, které se ovšem bude lišit podle jednotlivých typů přístrojů, kapacit jejich baterií i spotřeby displejů a tak podobně. Díky malé spotřebě E-Ink technologie může být sekundární displej zapnutý neustále. Počítá se s tím, že bude plnit funkce čtečky eknih, zpráv, bude zobrazovat upozornění nebo třeba mapu s aktuálním umístěním, SMS a zprávy ze sociálních sítí, tj. z WhatsApp, Twitteru atd. Pochopitelně může zobrazovat i obrázky, ale v monochromatickém režimu a s nižším rozlišením, než má původní přístroj.

Kromě toho je přídavný displej lépe čitelný na ostrém slunci...

Obal zvyšuje ochranu smartphone. Přídavný displej je odolný proti prachu a vodě. InkCase Plus váží méně než 45 gramů a je jen 5mm vysoký...

Díky dostatečnému dosahu Bluetooth lze displej používat i samostatně, takže například umožňuje dálkové přijetí hovoru...

Nabíjet se musí rovněž samostatně, a to klasicky přes USB...

Stránky projektu jsou zde. Projekt počítá s cenou 139 USD za obal i dodatkový displej, ale prozatím pouze pro Samsung Galaxy S5. Pro jiné přístroje bude dostupné toto řešení až při 500 objednávkách.
