The six English Premier League giants namely Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur are 6 of the 15 regular participants.
All participating teams will be divided into 2 groups, each containing 10 teams. Home and away matches will take place in the quarter-finals and semifinals, while the finals will take place on a neutral ground.

The home-away format will also be used in the competition as well as in leagues in various countries. The top three teams from each group may participate in the quarter-finals, and the two slots remaining by the two-legged play-off winners between the fourth and fifth place occupants of each group.
The knockout round itself will later be held in a two-leg format except for the final, which will be held in one match at a neutral venue.
